About
104.9 The Wave (CKBC-FM) is a radio station based in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada. Since its launch on April 18, 1955, the station has continually evolved, keeping pace with changes in technology and audience preferences. Over the decades, CKBC went through multiple ownership changes—acquired by Astral Media in 2002 and later by Bell Media in 2013. In 2021, the station temporarily switched to an adult-focused "Bounce" format. However, following Bell Media’s sale of 45 stations in early 2024, CKBC was rebranded as 104.9 The Wave on April 8, 2025. The station now features classic hits from the '70s and '80s, with retro shows like American Top 40 with Casey Kasem airing every weekend.
104.9 The Wave stands as a testament to radio’s ability to reinvent itself, offering nostalgic content that continues to engage and entertain a loyal audience.

Comments
- Roger ArseneauThe station has improved greatly, only one issue is that Casey Kasem's American Top 40,. Get rid of this a it's a disgrace promoting anything to do with the USA with all that going on between the USA ( Donald Trump ) and Canada. Get ride of this as I will not listen too your station Saturday & Sunday mornings Never Ever...........
- John HacheyYour new format is great ,but I can do without Casey Kasem's top 40 every morning, the guy has been dead for over 10years
